Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ stated that he is not power-hungry but will not step aside from his responsibilities right now.
Addressing the seventh Central Committee meeting of the Maoist Center, which began at the Nepal Academy on Thursday, Prachanda said he would continue to fight until the end for the nation, the party, and the revolution.
“I have not thought about stepping aside from my party responsibility, but power-lust is not my nature,” Prachanda said. “I vow to keep fighting until the end for the nation, the revolution, and the party.”
He also stressed that it is necessary to maintain a minimum understanding regarding the process of leadership building and handover.
Prachanda said this at a time when Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma had been calling for a change of guard in the party.
Prachanda floated a proposal to hold a special convention in November by dissolving the central committee (CC) meeting in the officer-bearers' meeting convened on September 5.
Today's CC meeting endorsed the proposal floated by Prachanda and formed a special general convention organizing committee under the leadership of Prachanda.
