The Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has set mid-November deadline for collecting and updating the voter list.

The acting Chief Election Commissioner, Ram Prasad Bhandari, informed Nepalkhabar that the commission's meeting today decided that the voter-list be collected and updated by mid-November.

"The meeting has set mid-November deadline for updating the voter-list," Bhandari said.

He stated that the collection and updating of the voter-list would be done until mid-November so that citizens who turn 18 years old by March 4 will be eligible to vote.

The interim government led by Sushila Karki, formed following the Gen Z uprising on September 8 and 9, has the mandate to hold the House of Representatives elections on March 5, 2026.

A provision has it that the collection of the voter list should be stopped after the announcement of the election.

However, the government amended this provision through an ordinance on Wednesday (September 24).
