Ajaya Bhadra Khanal has been appointed as the chief advisor to the Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushila Karki.
Similarly, Govinda Narayan Timilsina has been appointed as the Public Relations Advisor to the Prime Minister.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers convened on Sunday afternoon took a decision to this end.
Khanal is the former editor of The Himalayan Times. He had also worked for The Asia Foundation funded by the United States of America.
The Asia Foundation had run a project 'Nepal Transition to Peace Initiative' (NTTP-I) comprising leaders of political parties and civil society leaders during Nepal's peace process. Khanal had worked as the Executive Director for the NTTP-I.
Briefly associated with UKAALO online, Khanal had been working for the Center for Social Innovation and Foreign Policy until recently. This institute is a research center that publishes reports on Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Chinese influence on Nepal.
Similarly, Timilsina is the vice president of the Ujwal Thapa Foundation. It was established in memory of the founder of Bibeksheel Nepali Party, Ujwal Thapa. Thapa had passed away during the COVID-19.
