The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has raided the house of Bhushan Rana, the brother-in-law of former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Bhushan is the younger brother of Deuba's wife, Arzu Rana. The police raid took place at his house in Jawalakhel. Bhushan is known as an individual who allegedly manipulates large-scale government procurement and appointments in various state bodies.
This action follows an incident on September 9 when a large amount of cash and valuable items were reportedly found at Deuba's Budhanilkantha residence after it was attacked by Gen-Z protesters.
Suspected individuals are under scanner after the government assigned the responsibility of CIB Chief to Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dr. Manoj Kumar KC. The investigation into the high profile Bhutanese refugee scam had gained momentum when KC was the chief of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.
A few days ago, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal visited the CIB and directed them to move forward with investigations that had been stalled due to political pressure.
