The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall for 12 hours, from 8:00 pm today until 8:00 am tomorrow (Sunday). In light of this warning, the department has urged everyone to stay alert and take necessary precautions against possible risks from the heavy downpour.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and for Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, held discussions with relevant authorities to review the monsoon situation and ongoing preparations.

During the meeting, Department Director General Kamal Ram Joshi highlighted that the Bagmati, Madhesh, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are expected to receive very heavy rain during this time. He specifically advised residents living near rivers in these provinces to be extra cautious over potential disaster risks.

He also added that rainfall in these areas could exceed 200 millimeters between 10:00 pm tonight and 2:00 am Sunday, and urged people to avoid unnecessary travel during this critical period.

Currently, Nepal’s weather remains heavily influenced by monsoon winds.
