Nepal has defeated UAE by 1 run in the Super Six match of ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific Qualifiers 2025 held in Oman.
Nepal restricted UAE to 139 runs/9 in the allotted 20 overs while the latter was chasing the 141-run target.
To restrict UAE from reaching the target, Dipendra Singh Airee took 3 wickets giving away 22 runs, and Gulsan, Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami grabbed 1 wicket each for Nepal.
Despite Alishan Sharafu's 58-run score, UAE failed to achieve the set target. Sharafu hit 3 fours and 5 sixes off 40 balls.
Similarly, Dhruv Parashar scored 32 runs including 1 four and 3 sixes off 18 deliveries while Jonathan Figy and Zahid Ali contributed 19 and 11 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground on Sunday, Nepal notched up 140 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Aasif Sheikh topped the score with 51 runs including 4 fours and 1 six off 47 balls followed by Kushal Bhurtel with 28 runs while Rohit Paudel scored 20 runs. Similarly, Gulsan Jha and Kushal Malla contributed 14 and 10 runs, respectively.
On the bowling side, Junaid Siddique, Muhammad Rohid, Zahid Ali, Haider Ali, Harshit Kaushik and Dhruv Parashar took 1 wicket each for UAE.
In the Super Six, Nepal will play against four teams: the ones coming from Group A and Group C, excluding Japan.
The UAE and Qatar from Group A, Nepal and Japan from Group B and Oman and Samoa from Group C have secured their berths in the Super Six. UAE, Nepal and Oman had advanced into the Super Six as group stage winners, carrying over two points each.
The top three teams in the Super Six will qualify for next year's T20 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka.
