Nepal Police has taken 50 people under control for reaching Maitighar Mandal to hold a demonstration without permission from the local administration.

The District Police Range, Kathmandu detained the individuals who call themselves members of Gen Z United this morning for further interrogation.

According to police, they were apprehended for gathering without prior permission from the local authority and due to the potential risk of confrontation with other Gen Z groups, which could have posed a security threat to themselves. Among those taken under control, 24 are females and 26 are males.

Gen Z United leader Madan Karki said although the group had approached the local administration, seeking permission to hold the demonstration, their request was denied. He termed the Nepal Police’s move undemocratic'. “Our demonstration was meant to call for and promote unity among Gen Z groups. But we were prevented from doing so. The District Administration Office, Kathmandu denied us permission,” he complained.
