Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing a task or set of tasks. It is a kind of a habit that prevents you from following through on what you set out to do.

Most of the people in the current society tend to procrastinate more often and waste free time and put off important task at hand. So, here is a list of tips that may help you to stop procrastinating and motivate yourself to complete your work:

Micro managing your task: Rather than over thinking the work to be tedious and putting it off, we can break the work into different segments and micro manage it. We can focus on one part of the work at a time and simplify the work. Applying this method will assist in controlling procrastination.

Change your environment: Different kinds of environment have different kinds of impacts on our mind. If we are in an environment that easily distracts us from completing our task, we should probably change our workplace. For example: in school or in an office, we feel as we should study or work properly but in our room we usually like to laze off and enjoy ourselves.

Use incentives: Using incentives can become one of the most effective methods to get your work done even if you are a procrastinator. Rewarding yourself with things you enjoy when you accomplish certain milestone or complete your work can help you motivate yourself and engage yourself in the task that is crucial for you.

Take a break: It is also necessary to reward yourself with a break. Working continuously will drain you both physically and mentally. So taking some time out to do activities you enjoy can be the best way for recharging yourself and continue you work later.

Create a detailed timeline with deadlines: This is another way for you to control your procrastination. Creating a timetable for when you will work on your projects, breaking it down and setting a time limit is the way to go. Having a deadline helps to put in pressure and achieve your goal faster and more efficiently.

Eliminate distractions: While working procrastinators generally tend to be easily distracts with the objects around them. For example: if we are doing a crucial work and a notification pops off in any of the devices around us we tend to check it. This further motivates us to take a break and your work remains incomplete. So eliminating distractions is also a must.

Hang out with people who motivate: There are bound to be people around you who are very driven and invested in the field that interests you as well. Hanging around them and talking about the different topics about interest helps to motivate to involve your-self more in it. It helps to be more active in researching about the field that you are interested in and achieving your goals.
