Acting President of Nepali Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka, said that the schedule for the general convention presented by Joint General Secretary Mahendra Yadav at the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Tuesday was personal.
Starting the CWC meeting on Wednesday, Khadka informed that the schedule presented by Yadav was personal.
After leaders raised the issue in the meeting about the news published by various media outlets today, Khadka said, "After it was made clear that the matter including that schedule was Yadav's personal opinion, it does not seem appropriate to talk about what any newspaper or media wrote today."
In Tuesday's meeting, Yadav had proposed that the party's regular general convention should be held on May 10 to 13, next year. Prior to that, General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa had presented a schedule to hold the general convention from December 31 to January 3. There is a dispute within NC over whether to hold the general convention before or after the election on March 5.
Yadav had proposed the December 6 deadline for the distribution of active and renewal memberships. Similarly, he had proposed the distribution of new memberships by December 20, the transfer of active member details to the election committee by January 4, Ward conventions on March 15, municipality/rural municipality conventions on March 19, and provincial constituency conventions on March 26.
Similarly, he had proposed holding the Federal Regional Convention on April 3, the District Convention on April 13, the Provincial Convention on April 28, and the 15th General Convention from May 10 to 13.
