Bus-hit claims 37-yr-old man in Hetauda; driver arrested

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a bus on the East-West Highway at Master Chowk in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-9, Makwanpur.

The District Police Office, Makwanpur, reported that the bus, Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 2656, which was heading toward Kathmandu from Janakpur, struck the pedestrian on Saturday night.

According to Makwanpur Police Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushkar Bogati, the victim, identified as 37-year-old Ram Bahadur Bohora of Devdaha Municipality-8, Rupandehi, died in the course of treatment.

DSP Bogati informed that a team, commanded by Police Inspector Kishor Acharya, rescued the critically injured man and ferried him to Hetauda Hospital for treatment. However, doctors pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.

The police have apprehended the bus driver, 33-year-old Sujay Kumar Singh of Ramgopalpur Municipality-6, Mahottari, and he is currently detained at the District Police Office, Makwanpur, for necessary legal action.

The police also mentioned that the passengers on the bus were sent to their destination via another bus.
