Two tourists from India who had been missing for three weeks were found dead on Sunday.

They have been identified as Jignesh Kumar Lallubhai Patel, 52, and Priyansa Kumari Patel, 17, according to Chief District Officer Naba Raj Poudyal.

A security team led by Superintendent of Police Hira Bahadur GC from the Armed Police Force (APF) found their bodies buried under snow about 100 meters above the Milarepa Monastery.

The Indian nationals had reportedly gone sightseeing to the Milarepa Monastery in Ngisyang Rural Municipality–5 from the nearby Gyaltsen Hotel on October 20. They subsequently lost the contact, prompting the hotel to inform the Armed Police Force’s Mountain Rescue Training Centre in Manang. The Center initiated search operations thereafter.

Until the filing of this report, the bodies were being brought to the District Hospital in Manang. According to CDO Poudyal, they will be sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu on Monday.
