37 Nepalis rescued from Thailand; mission to repatriate 29 continues

The Embassy of Nepal in Thailand has rescued more than three dozen Nepali migrant workers stranded in Thailand.

After being lured with lucrative job offers in Myanmar, 37 Nepalis had been forced to work in online dating, online casino, gaming, phishing, crypto related to online scamming.

They had fled to Thailand after the security personnel of Myanmar raided scamming centers on October 19.

The Nepali Embassy in Thailand rescued them with the help of concerned authorities in Thailand and were airlifted to Nepal on the flight number RA 402 of Nepal Airlines. 

Similarly, preparations are underway to rescue 23 Nepalis stranded in Myawaddi of Myanmar, 2 Nepalis from Mae Sot of Thailand and four from Cambodia, the Embassy has said.

The Embassy has urged Nepali people not to get lured with promises of lucrative job offers in South East Asian countries including Cambodia, Loas, Myanmar, Thailand and to go for foreign countries for employment only after receiving a valid labor permit determined by the Nepal government.
