The government has accelerated the classification of individuals injured during the Gen-Z demonstrations that took place on September 8 and 9. The Home Ministry has indicated that this classification process has been hastened following the procedure approved by the Council of Ministers on December 8, aimed at providing support for livelihoods and financial assistance based on the condition and severity of disabilities of those injured in the Gen-Z protests.

As per the information from the Secretariat of Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, the District Administration Offices will make recommendations for the classification, which will then be certified by the Ministry of Health and Population. In accordance with the established procedure, a technical committee led by the Secretary of the Ministry of Health will classify the injured individuals based on the degree of their disabilities. The committee has organized the injured into four categories: minor, moderate, serious, and very serious.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that individuals with serious injuries will receive a monthly allowance of NPR 9,000, while those with very serious injuries will be granted a monthly livelihood allowance of NPR 18,000. According to the established procedure, individuals with moderate injuries are eligible for a monthly allowance of NPR 4,000.

Under the proactive initiative of Home Minister Aryal, and to ensure the classification aligns with public sentiment, the Ministry has instructed the relevant authorities to expedite the classification process for the injured, and the classification facilitation committee has confirmed that the process is being advanced accordingly.
