For the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, only 64 political parties have submitted their closed lists of candidates under the Proportional Representation (PR) category to the Election Commission.
Out of the 100 parties registered with the Election Commission, only 64 submitted their lists during the designated period on Monday and Tuesday. According to the Commission, a total of 3,424 candidates have been nominated by these 64 parties under the PR system.
The Commission noted that some parties will be contesting the election using shared election symbols. This time, 64 parties will compete using 58 symbols.
As many as 54 parties will contest using their own individual election symbols. 10 parties have grouped together to contest using only 4 symbols.
Parties that submit PR lists
The parties that submitted their PR lists to the Election Commission include CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Nepal Shram Sanskriti Party, Bahujan Shakti Party, CPN (United), CPN, Nepali Janata Dal, Jaya Matribhumi Party, CPN (Maoist), Sarbabhauma Party, Progressive Democratic Party, Samyukta Nagarik Party, Rashtra Nirman Party, Rastriya Janata Party, Nepal Matribhumi Party, Miteri Party, Janadhikar Party, Rastriya Pariwartan Party, Parliamentary Democratic Party, Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Janamat Party, Rastriya Mukti Andolan Nepal, and Congress (BP), among others.
