Professor Dr Mahendra Lawoti has expressed dissatisfaction over Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)'s decision to enlist him as a proportional representation (PR) candidate for the upcoming elections of the House of Representations (HoR) scheduled for March 5, 2026.
RSP has submitted a list of 110 candidates for the proportional representation elections to be held under the House of Representatives (HoR) after 65 days.
Dr Lawoti's names features in the 12th number of the PR list under Adivasi Janajati category.
Talking to Nepalkhabar, Dr Lawoti complained he was enlisted in the PR list without his consent. "My name has been placed in 12th number without my consent," he said.
He said that he has already informed RSP to remove his name from the PR list. "Currently, I am in my village. I have told RSP to remove my name from the list," Lawoti said.
He was involved in Ujyaalo Nepal Party. However, Ujyaalo Nepal Party formed a unification deal with RSP on Monday. RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, Ujyaalo Party Nepal Chairman Anup Kumar Upyadhy and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah on Monday signed the unification deal in the presence of Ghising.
Eighteen PR seats have been allocated for UNP following the agreement. UNP's Chairman Upadhyay and Dr Lawati's name have been included in the PR list.
