Nepali Congress (NC) has rescheduled the date of 15th General Convention amidst internal rift.
A meeting of the Central Work Execution Committee (CWEC) held at Sanepa on Friday afternoon endorsed the proposal to hold the general convention on May 11-14 by a majority of votes.
Acting President of Nepali Congress Purna Bahadur Khadka had submitted an amendment proposal since the general convention could not proceed as scheduled.
Earlier, NC had decided to hold the general convention from January 10 to 12.
According to the new schedule, the ward convention will be held on April 4, the village and municipality convention on April 8 and the province assembly regional convention will be held on April 11. Similarly, the House of Representatives regional convention and the district convention of the district having only one House of Representatives constituency be held on April 15.
Likewise, a district convention will take place on April 18 in districts with two or more House of Representatives constituencies and provincial convention will be held from April 23 to 25.
However, general secretaries are still adamant about convening the special general convention on January 11-12, the sources have said.
