Preparations are in full swing at Bhrikuti Mandap as the faction led by Nepali Congress General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma gears up to host a "Special General Convention" on January 11 and 12.

The move follows a growing rift within the party after the Central Work Execution Committee decided by a majority vote to amend the schedule for the 15th General Convention, pushing it to May.

General Secretaries Thapa and Sharma, along with several other leaders, had formally registered their dissent against the postponement of the regular convention.

Venue preparation continues
In response to the leadership's decision to delay the official gathering, the Thapa-Sharma faction moved forward with organizing this Special Convention. The Bhrikutimandap area is currently being decorated with Nepali Congress flags and banners.

According to the Special Convention Organizing Committee, the Main Exhibition Hall, and the lawn adjacent to the Main Gate have been booked.

Management teams are currently on-site at Bhrikuti Mandap ensuring that the infrastructure and logistics are ready for the two-day assembly.
