The Election Commission (EC) has made final preparation to enforce code of conduct with a view to ensuring House of Representatives (HoR) member elections free and dignified.

The commission informed that preparation has been geared up to enforce the code of conduct from January 17.

In this connection, the commission briefed Prime Minister Sushila Karki about the progress made so far regarding the elections announced for coming March 5.

The code of conduct has clearly stipulated what activities government and non-government organizations can undertake and what roles political parties and stakeholders should play to ensure a fair election.

According to the EC's spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari briefed the Prime Minister on Friday about the preparations made so far for the election, printing of election materials, and human resource management.

The commission has a belief that the government and heads of concerned stakeholders have a key role in strictly enforcing the code of conduct.
