Four candidates have taken forms for the party presidency in the ongoing Special General Convention of Nepali Congress.
According to the central election committee formed by the Special General Convention, four people have submitted forms by 5 pm. The record of submitting forms has not been kept. The election committee has stated that the record will be kept only at the time of candidacy registration.
The distribution of candidacy nomination forms had started since noon. Election committee coordinator Sitaram KC informed that candidacy registration has now begun.
The committee has set the time for candidacy registration until 7:30 pm. The committee had made the schedule public, which will start voting from 9 pm today. However, it has been stated that the voting time will also be changed with the postponement of the time for candidacy registration.
On the other hand, Nepali Congress acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka has called a meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC). The meeting called at 1 pm has not yet been held.
President Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader Dr Shekhar Koirala and the negotiation team representing the Special General Convention are engaged in discussions. The talks, which began at 3 pm, are still ongoing. It is said that the CWC meeting will be held only after the conclusion of the talks.
