NC finalizes candidates for 156 constituencies; 9 still remain undecided

Nepali Congress (NC) has finalized candidates in most constituencies for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5.

As of 2 pm of the nomination filing day of the HoR elections, NC has finalized candidacies for 156 constituencies out of 165 constituencies. The NC leadership is rendering efforts to finalize the candidacies for the remaining nine constituencies, NC sources said.

Key constituencies in capital still await candidates|
Nepali Congress (NC) has yet to announce candidates for four crucial constituencies out of 10 in Kathmandu. Candidates for Kathmandu-1, 2, 3, and 7 constituencies remain undecided.

Similarly, internal disputes over ticket distribution have delayed announcements in Bhaktapur-1, Chitwan-1, Parsa-2, and Kailali-4.The party’s central leadership and the Parliamentary Board are currently working to finalize these names.

The party aims to deploy official candidates in these areas before the nomination deadline. The party has already fielded several high-profile leaders across various provinces.

Koshi Province
Dr Shekhar Koirala (Morang-6), Dr Minendra Rijal (Morang-2), and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki (Sunsari-4), Bhesh Raj Acharya (Ilam-2), Keshav Raj Pandey (Jhapa-1), Dr Sunil Sharma (Morang-3), Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar (Sunsari-3)

Madhesh Province
 Bimalendra Nidhi (Dhanusha-3) and Gagan Kumar Thapa (Sarlahi-4), Tejulal Chaudhary (Saptari-4), Mahendra Yadav (Dhanusha-4), Bimalendra Nidhi (Dhanusha-3), Farmullah Mansur (Baras-3)

Bagmati Province
Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat (Nuwakot-1), Pradip Paudel (Kathmandu-5), and Udaya Shamsher Rana (Lalitpur-1), Ajay Babu Shiwakoti (Dolakha), Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat (Nuwakot-1), Dina Upadhyaya (Makwanpur-1), Pradip Paudel (Kathmandu-5)

Gandaki Province
Shankar Bhandari (Tanahun-2) and Bhagwat Prakash Malla (Syangja-2), Govinda Bhattarai (Tanahun-1), Arjun Prasad Joshi (Parbat), Tek Bahadur Gurung (Manang)

Lumbini Province
Binod Chaudhary (Parasi-1), Dr. Chandra Bhandari (Gulmi-1), and Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel (Pyuthan), Binod Kumar Chaudhary (Parasi-1), Chandra Kant Bhandari (Gulmi-1), Deepak Giri (Dang-3), Sanjay Kumar Gautam (Bardia-1)

Karnali Province
Narayan Koirala (Surkhet-2), Dikpal Kumar Shahi (Dailekh-2), Raju KC (Rukum West)

Sudurpashchim Province
Chatur Bahadur Chand (Baitadi), Nain Singh Mahar (Dadeldhura), NP Saud (Kanchanpur-2)

Nepali Congress has opted for a mix of veteran politicians and fresh youth candidates this time. According to the party headquarters in Sanepa, the names for the remaining nine constituencies are expected to be made public by this evening.
