The voting in the National Assembly elections has been over with 94 percent of votes cast.
A total of 89 Province Assembly (PA) lawmakers and 229 local representatives cast their votes in the elections. Of the 110 PA lawmakers in Bagmati Province Assembly, six resigned from the post, 12 Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmakers, two from Hamro Nepali Party and one from Nepali Communist Party abstained from the voting.
Similarly, of the total 234 representatives, 229 cast their votes. Three mayors have resigned from their posts in order to contest the House of Representatives (HoR) elections while the other remained suspended.
Besides them, Dudhauli Municipality mayor Dinesh Adhikari, Shankarapur Municipality Mayor Ramesh Napit, Helambu Rural Municipality Chair Apsara Lamsal, Godawari Municipality Mayor Muna Adhikari and Bigu Rural Municipality Chair Sanjiv Oli did not turn up in the poling centers, according to the Province Election Office.
Six candidates are in the fray for the elections in the province. Prem Dangal from CPN (UML), Gita Devkota from Nepali Congress, Prem Sapkota and Saroj Kumari Jha from Nepali Communist Party and Bikram Dhukuchhu and Kabita Maharjan from Nepal Workers and Pageants Party are contesting the elections.
The vote count will start in a short while.
