Newly elected President of Nepali Congress, Gagan Thapa, has thanked the voters of Kathmandu Constituency-4 prior to moving to Sarlahi Constituency 4 for the upcoming House of Representative lection.
Issuing a video message, Thapa stated his reasons for contesting the March 5 elections. "I am leaving for Madhesh in order to unify the nation."
Thapa, who had previously been elected as the member of the House of Representatives from Kathmandu-4, said he got a lot of affection and cooperation from the voters of Kathmandu 4 as if he were one of the members of the same family. He also shared that he was advised not to move to Madhesh to contest the federal elections.
"The voters of Kathmandu 4 advised me not to move to Madhesh but to contest the elections from Kathmandu 4," said Thapa, "But I decided to contest the elections from Siraha 4 in order to unify the country."
Thapa, who registered his candidacy via his representative, has left for Siraha today.
Prior to moving to Siraha, he, in a video message, said, "My parents migrated to Kathmandu from Solukhumbu," I was grown up in Kathmandu. I must represent the entire nation. Hence, I should go to Madhesh, touch the soil and get the blessings of Madhesh."
