Nepali Ambassador to South Korea, Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, has underlined the need for increasing investment in Nepal.
Ambassador Dr Tumbahamphe stressed it during a courtesy call she had by Nepal's Honorary General Consul to South Korea, Jeon Sung-Hyung, at her office- the Nepali Embassy in Seoul.
The Nepali Embassy in Seoul informed that issues as Nepal-Korea diplomatic relations, mutual cooperation and economic partnership featured significantly during the meeting.
Investment promotion in Nepal is an utmost priority, she said, adding that Nepal government had created atmosphere to draw more investment. There is huge potential to export Nepali products to the Korean market. Policy and procedural reforms were being made in Nepal, Dr Tumbahamphe added.
They also discussed the problems facing Nepali students and labourers in South Korea and measures to address the problems. The Ambassador urged the General Consul that he paid attention how the social security schemes like insurance to the Nepali students in Gwangju city of South Korea could be made accessible and convenient. His active role was sought for coordination and collaboration to this regard, according to the Embassy.
The Embassy also shared a plan that it would organize a mega investment conference in Gwangju, a prominent city in the southwestern belt of South Korea. The General Consul was requested for his help in identifying potential industrialists and investors to attend the event.
Honorary General Consul Jeon Sung-Hyung informed the Ambassador on his activities and progress made so far in Gwangju city. He also shared his plan and initiatives to bolster Nepal-Korea relations.
The general consul wants to be identified as 'A Son Nepal'. He has so far visited Nepal for 21 times including for the medical assistance with a doctors' team in a relief effort during the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake.
