Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu tomorrow, Thursday, for a three-day official visit.
According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army, the visit is part of a pre-scheduled regular exchange. During his stay, Admiral Paparo is expected to hold high-level formal meetings with senior Nepali officials.
The discussions will primarily focus on military-to-military relations between the US and Nepal, bilateral interests and regional security concerns and enhancing cooperation in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).
As part of his itinerary, Admiral Paparo will visit the Birendra Peace Operations Training Center (BPOTC) in Panchkhal, Kavre. He is slated to observe the center’s facilities and receive briefings on the Nepali Army’s extensive role in global peacekeeping operations and the current status of their training programs.
The visit is considered highly significant as Nepal consistently ranks as one of the top contributors of troops to United Nations Peacekeeping missions. This diplomatic engagement is expected to further bolster the partnership between the two nations in international peace-building efforts and disaster management.
