Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has claimed that the communist forces including CPN (UML) will be reunified.
Prachanda said this at the party orientation program organized at the party's central office in Parisdanda, Koteshwar on Sunday.
The historic unity between UML and Maoist Center in 2075 BS as the then Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was split due to political and legal complications.
Although the unity formed a two-thirds majority government, both parties returned to their previous status after an internal power struggle and the Supreme Court's decision. Now, with the local elections and the change in the political equation, the debate on cooperation and unity between the leftist parties has intensified.
Welcoming former mayor of Kirtipur Municipality Ramesh Maharjan and former ward chairman Nuhuchchhe Maharjan to the party, Coordinator Dahal said, “We want to give a positive message in the country’s politics through cooperation between nationalist forces. I firmly believe that this process will ultimately lead to a broad communist unity including UML.”
Former chief Maharjan, who joined the party, pledged to leave no stone unturned to help Rupa Maharjan win the elections, who is the candidate from the star symbol in Kirtipur-10, in the upcoming election. He also added that abandoning UML and joining the new communist polarization is the need of the hour.
Top leaders including communist leader Bamdev Gautam were present at the program. Leader Gautam also said that there is no alternative to standing together as a communist and duo Maharjan's entry to the expansion of the party’s organization.
