India welcomes Nepal's elections, looks forward to working with new govt

India has welcomed the successful conduct of Nepal's elections today, reaffirming its support for the neighboring country's democratic transition. Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Nepal exercised its democratic mandate with enthusiastic participation.

"We congratulate Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the Government and the people of Nepal, as well as various stakeholders, for successfully holding these polls elections, which took place against the backdrop of the exceptional circumstances last year," Jaiswal said.

India also expressed its readiness to work with the new government of Nepal.

"We look forward to working with the new government of Nepal to further build on the robust multifaceted ties the strong ties between our two countries and peoples for mutual benefit," Jaiswal said.

In line with its historical commitment to a stable Nepal, it has also provided logistical support for this election.
