Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Yogesh Gauchan has won the House of Representatives elections from Mustang. With this victory, Nepali Congress has also secured one seat in the federal parliament.
Gauchan secured 3,707 votes, while his nearest rival Indradhara Bista of UML received 1,806 votes. Gauchan had previously won the elections in the 2079. Yogesh is the son of former Nepali Congress leader and former minister Romi Gauchan, a tourism entrepreneur.
Similarly, Additya Chandra Thakali of Rastriya Swatantra Party received 759 votes.
With this victory, the responsibility of protecting his father's legacy and fulfilling the expectations of Mustang has fallen on the shoulders of 32-year-old Gauchan.
RSP ranks third
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Additya Chandra Thakali, who is contesting the HoR elections for the first time in Mustang, received 759 votes.
With this victory, NC has maintained its sway in Mustang, and the elected Gauchan faces both the challenge and opportunity to take Mustang's development and tourism to new heights while preserving his father's legacy.
