Nepali Congress Joint General Secretary and Lalitpur Constituency 1 candidate Udaya Shumsher Rana has kept alive the possibility of stopping the clean sweep of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in 15 seats in the Kathmandu Valley.

RSP has won two out of 10 seats in Kathmandu and is leading in eight constituencies. Similarly, RSP has a wide lead in both constituencies of Bhaktapur along with Lalitpur 1 and 3.

While NC's Rana got 3,144 votes in Lalitpur 1, UML's Chetnath Sanjel is trailing with 1,753 votes.

Similarly, Buddha Ratna Maharjan of RSP has received 1,652 votes.

In the 2079 elections, NC had won constituencies 1, 3, 4, 5 and 10 of Kathmandu, and won Lalitpur 1 and Bhaktapur 2. UML won Kathmandu-9 and Lalitpur-2, while RSP won Kathmandu 2, 6, 7, 8 and Lalitpur 3 in the last HoR elections.

Bhaktapur 1 was taken as its stronghold by Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP). Except for Lalitpur 1, the dominance of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is seen in all the constituencies
