The postmortem report has shown that 16-year-old Inisha BK was raped and murdered in Birendranagar, Surkhet.
Sudhir Raj Shahi, Superintendent of Police (SP) of the District Police Office, Surkhet, said that the postmortem report showed that Inisha died due to excessive bleeding after being raped. “There have been reports that she died after being raped,” SP Shahi told Nepalkhabar, adding, “Further investigation has been initiated to determine whether it was a gang-rape.”
Inisha, a resident of Badakholi, Gurbhakot Municipality-6, Surkhet, had been living in Birendranagar-1 for her studies. She was found unconscious in the community forest of Birendranagar Municipality-4 on March 7.
She was taken to the Provincial Hospital, Kalagaun, for treatment. However, Inisha was pronounced dead by the doctors shortly after reaching the hospital.
The relatives of the deceased have been demanding maximum action against the culprits and justice for the victim's family, claiming that Inisha was raped and murdered. They have also protested in Birendranagar on Wednesday. They have demanded a fair investigation into the murder and action against the culprits. They have not received Inisha's body, yet.
The District Police Office, Surkhet has said that four people suspected of being involved in the incident have been taken into custody and are being investigated. According to the police, a detailed investigation into the incident is underway.
Police mobilize technical team for forensic examination
SP Shahi informed that the police have almost completed the initial investigation into the incident. According to him, the mobile phones of the victims and those arrested have been sent for digital forensic examination.
"Samples have been sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory for psychological and physiological tests," said SP Shahi. 'After receiving all the test reports, a conclusion will be reached by comparing them with the post-mortem report.'
To make the investigation more effective, the District Police Office, Surkhet has also formed a separate team. He informed that a team with technical guidance from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) has arrived in Surkhet to assist in the investigation.
Similarly, a team to conduct 'polygraph tests' and a technical team to conduct 'scene analysis' from the Nepal Police Provincial Office, Nepalgunj have reached Surkhet and are working on the investigation. SP Shahi said that various technical tests and expert teams have been mobilized to ensure that no aspect is left out even though the investigation has reached an important stage.
