Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has been recommended as a lawmaker of the National Assembly (NA).

The cabinet meeting held on Sunday recommended Home Minister Aryal as an NA member to be nominated by the President.

Elections were held for 18 of the 19 vacant seats in the National Assembly. In which 9 were elected from Nepali Congress, 8 from UML and one from the Janata Samajbadi Party.

One member to be appointed by the President on the recommendation of the government was lying vacant. Earlier, the term of Bamdev Gautam from NCP, who was appointed to this quota, had expired.

Home Minister Aryal will now be in the National Assembly once he exits the government. Aryal is also the former legal advisor to senior Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balendra Shah (Balen). Aryal was his legal advisor when Balen was the mayor.

Later on, Prime Minister Sushila Karki appointed him as the Home Minister in her cabinet.
