Balendra Shah appointed Prime Minister of Nepal

President Ramchandra Poudel has appointed Balendra Shah (Balen), the leader of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) parliamentary party, as the Prime Minister of Nepal.

He was appointed Prime Minister under Article 76 (1) of the Constitution, as the leader of the party holding a majority in the House of Representatives.

Balen will take the oath of office as Prime Minister at 12:34 pm today at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas, in accordance with Vedic rituals.
