Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' has been elected as the leader of CPN (UML) parliamentary party (PP).
The UML election committee has announced that Badal has been elected unopposed. UML MP Som Porte said that Badal was elected unopposed after only one candidate was nominated for the position of PP leader. MP Suhang Nembang had also had laid a claim for the position.
The election process was started after a consensus was not reached in the PP meeting. The election committee formed under the coordination of UML central member Niraj Acharya had started the election process.
However, in the end, Suhang did not file his candidacy. He proposed Badal as the PP leader, instead. It was announced that Badal was elected unopposed after only one candidate was nominated.
There are 25 UML MPs in the House of Representatives.
