The Balendra Shah (Balen)-led government has decided to recall the ambassadors of six countries.

The cabinet meeting held on Sunday decided to recall the ambassadors appointed by the then Nepali Congress-UML coalition government.

The current government has decided to recall six ambassadors, including Dr Shankar Prasad Sharma (India), Chitra Lekha Yadav (Australia), and Dr Purna Bahadur Nepali (Sri Lanka). Also being recalled are Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe from South Korea, Sumnima Tuladhar from Denmark, and Kapil Shrestha from South Africa.

They have been asked to return within a month, according to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote a letter on Monday directing them to return within a month. They were appointed ambassadors on political grounds during the then KP Oli-led government in a political split between the UML and the NC.
