The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has stated that a new weather system has entered from western Nepal, bringing rains in the country.
"Now another system bringing rain has entered from western Nepal and it is raining. Similarly, it is raining in many places in Gandaki, Lumbini and Bagmati provinces and in a few places in the rest of the provinces," reads the notice issued by the Division.
Earlier, the Division had stated that "the rain system is spreading eastward."
At this time, it is also raining in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas.
According to the Division, Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system and local winds.
This afternoon, there is a possibility of moderate rain/snowfall with thunder/lightning, wind and hailstorms in many places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and a few places in the Terai areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces including Madhesh Province. There is also a possibility of heavy rain/snowfall in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, the Division has stated.
According to meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain in the Kathmandu Valley today.
Similarly, tonight, there is a possibility of moderate rain/snowfall with thunder/lightning in some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of the country including Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati provinces and a few places in the remaining Terai areas, the Division has stated.
