The government has started internal preparations after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) to visit his country. However, the Nepal government has not yet made a formal announcement.
According to Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, Indian Prime Minister Modi has already sent the invitation to visit, and Prime Minister Balen has already accepted it.
In an interview with WION, a global news network, Foreign Minister Khanal, who is currently in Mauritius to attend the 9th Indian Ocean Conference, said that Modi had extended the invitation to visit India when he sent his congratulatory message and that the Nepal government had agreed to it.
However, the date of the visit is yet to be fixed, he said.
“Our Prime Minister Balendra Shah has received the invitation to visit India in the congratulatory message. The Prime Minister has also accepted it,” he told WION, “but the date and time has not yet been fixed.”
Foreign Minister Khanal had met Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Mauritius last Friday.
He stated that various issues of bilateral relations were discussed during that meeting. "We mainly talked about formulating our priorities as the new government", Foreign Minister Khanal said.
