Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has officially finalized its picks to lead 11 parliamentary committees following a Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting held at Singha Durbar. The move signals the party's strategic positioning within the legislative framework.

In a significant reshuffle of internal responsibilities, RSP has assigned several high-profile lawmakers to head crucial thematic committees under the House of Representatives. Notable appointments include:

  • State Management & Good Governance: Hari Dhakal
  • Finance Committee: Krishna Hari Budhathoki
  • Infrastructure Development: Ashish Gajurel
  • International Relations & Tourism: Sumnima Udas
  • Education, Health & IT: Dr Ojaswi Sherchan
  • Law, Justice & Human Rights: Samiksha Baskota
  • Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources: Ashok Kumar Chaudhary
  • Women and Social Affairs: Akriti Abasthi
  • Industry, Commerce, Labor, and Consumer Welfare: Rahbar Ansari
  • Parliamentary Hearing Committee: Bodh Narayanan Shrestha
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of the Implementation of Directive Principles, Policies, and Obligations of the State Committee: Ganesh Karki

To streamline its legislative presence, RSP also appointed Kabindra Burlakoti as Chief Whip and Prakash Chandra Pariyar and Krantishikha Dhital as whips of the party.

Parallel to the RSP’s internal appointments, a broader meeting of opposition parties at Singha Durbar has forged a strategic alliance. In a unified move, CPN (UML) and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) announced their support for Nepali Congress (NC) to lead the high-stakes Public Accounts Committee. With the support from the other opposition parties represented in the parliament, NC has named Bharat Khadka as its candidate to chair the Public Accounts Committee under the House of Representatives.

This unified opposition front signals a coordinated push to tighten oversight on government spending and ensure fiscal transparency.
