The Nepali team has been announced for the ICC World Cup League-2 series. A 15-member Nepali team has been announced under the captaincy of Rohit Kumar Paudel for the series against UAE and Oman.
Some new players have got a chance in the team. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has prepared the team based on the performance in the Prime Minister's Cup.
Young batter Arjun Kumal has got a chance in the national team for the first time. He batted excellently in the Prime Minister's Cup cricket.
Similarly, opener and wicketkeeper Binod Bhandari, who has been performing well in domestic competitions including the Nepal Premier League and the Prime Minister's Cup, has also been included in the team. Bhandari has returned to the national team after three years. The other players are from the previous regular team.
Nepal is playing two series in two months under League-2. Separate series are going to be held between Nepal, Oman and UAE and between Nepal, America and Scotland. Both the series will be held in Nepal.
The first series will be held between Nepal, Oman and UAE from April 25 to May 5 at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Nepal, Scotland and the USA will play another series from May 12 to May 22.
The USA is atop the points table of League-2 followed by Scotland while Nepal is at the seventh place in the points table with 12 points from 20 matches.
Nepali team: Rohit Paudel (captain), Dipendra Singh Airee (vice-captain), Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Bhim Sarki, Aarif Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, Binod Bhandari, Nandan Yadav, Arjun Kumal and Karan KC.
Reserve players: Hemanta Dhami, Sher Malla, Rijan Dhakal, Ishan Pandey and Dev Khanal.
