A Nepali girl, who had gone to the United States (US) for higher studies five years ago, has been found dead.

Pramila Tripathi Bhurtel, who had been living in San Francisco for the past five years, was found dead, the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), California chapter, said.

"We are sharing the news of Pramila’s tragic demise with a heavy heart,’ the NRNA California chapter said, "She had struggled a lot for her bright future. She was found dead in San Francisco."

Pramila was raising her child with her. Some are saying that she committed suicide due to her harsh financial situation. The NRNA California chapter is silent on the matter. She has one child. The whereabouts of her husband are unknown.

The Nepali community in California is worried as she lacks the financial resources to raise her child and pay for Pramila’s funeral. Hence, Nepalis living in the US have started a fundraising campaign.

Yuba Raj Karki, CEO of Everest Business Roadmap, a California-based company, confirmed the incident and urged parents to be cautious when sending Nepali students to the US.

She had reached the US after completing her Plus Two in Nepal and was suffering from mental health problems after not being able to complete her university studies.

Currently, the NRNA California chapter is spearheading a fundraising drive to assist Pramila’s family. Contributions will be spend in three key areas: covering funeral expenses, securing the child’s upbringing, and providing the family with immediate financial stability during this difficult transition.

The Nepali Consulate General in San Francisco could not be reached out when called. There is no official information about Pramila's address in Nepal yet.
