Two killed as Scorpio vehicle hits parked truck in Kapilvastu

Two persons died and three others sustained injuries after a Scorpio vehicle rammed a truck parked on the postal highway in Kapilvastu on Saturday night.

An Indian Scorpio, UP 32 CA 8343, heading to Taulihawa from Bahadurgunj struck a truck parked on the road, leaving two dead.

The deceased have been identified as Radheshyam Kurmi, 50, of Kapilvastu Municipality-11 and Chinni Kurmi, 55, of Shivaraj Municipality-6, the District Police Office, Kapilvastu said.

The dead bodies have been kept at the district hospital in Kapilvastu for postmortem.

Nanda Prasad Dube, 65, of Maharajgunj Municipality-11, Motilal Kurmi, 28, of Shivaraj Municipality-10, and Suresh Kurmi, 20, of Shivaraj Municipality-11 were injured in the accident.

The condition of 65-year-old Nanda Prasad Dube among those injured is said to be critical. He has been taken to Bhairahawa for treatment.

Police have taken driver 28-year-old Suraj Acharya into custody. An investigation is underway, the police said.
