The Supreme Court has ordered the authorities to produce entrepreneur Shekhar Golchha in court within 24 hours.
Hearing the habeas corpus petition on Tuesday, a bench of Supreme Court Justice Nripadhwaj Niraula ordered that Golchha be produced in court within 24 hours. “A written response should be submitted along with Golchha via the Office of the Attorney General within 24 hours of the date of receiving this notice.”
On behalf of Golchha, his wife Seema Golchha on April 27 had filed a habeas corpus petition, seeking an interim order for Golchha’s release, arguing that he was being illegally detained.
Along with this, the Supreme Court has also issued a show cause order. The Supreme Court sought a written response mentioning why he was arrested, why should the interim order not be issued as per the petitioner’s demand.
The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had arrested Golchha on April 23.
