Nepali Congress has called a meeting of opposition parties today to discuss the government's new ordinance.
NC parliamentary party (PP) leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe informed that a meeting of opposition parties is being held at the NC PP office in Singha Durbar at 12 pm today.
“We have called a meeting to reach a common understanding among the opposition parties on the government's new ordinance,” he told Nepalkhabar.
Apart from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), no other political party represented in the House of Representatives is in the government.
The opposition camp includes NC, CPN-UML, Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Shram Sanskriti Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
Similarly, Mahabir Pun also represents the House of Representatives as an independent MP.
The RSP government, with a nearly two-thirds majority, has brought the ordinance by bypassing the parliament session.
The cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to bring the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council and the ordinance related to cooperatives.
According to the main opposition leader, Angdembe, the parliamentary party leaders of UML, NCP, Shram Sanskriti Party and RPP have been invited to the meeting of the opposition parties today.
He said that the meeting will discuss the government's move to bring an ordinance by bypassing the parliament session and the strategy to counter it.
