Oman has defeated Nepal by 102 runs in the second match of the ICC Men's World Cup League-2 ODI triangular series played at TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Wednesday.
Nepal’s pursuit of a 306-run target was cut short by rain; the match was abandoned with the score at 155/7 in 36.5 overs. As the downpour showed no signs of stopping, the officials turned to the DLS method, which handed Oman a comfortable 102-run win over Nepal.
When the umpires announced a halt on the match, Gulshan Jha and Sompal Kami were at the crease on 14 and 2 not out runs. Dipendra Singh Airee had returned to the pavilion after scoring 60 runs. Bhim Sarki was out for 28 runs. Rohit Paudel scored 10 and Aarif Sheikh added 14 runs.
Opener Kushal Bhurtel was caught LBW after scoring 1 run. Aashif Sheikh was caught out for 19 runs. Rohit Kumar Paudel was bowled out by Nadeem Khan after scoring 10 runs. Basir Ahamed, who scored 1 run, was also dismissed by Nadeem.
For Oman, Nadeem Khan took 3 wickets followed by Shakil Ahmed with 2 wickets while Muhammed Imran and Wasim Ali took 1 wicket each.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Oman had scored 305 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Oman's Captain Jatinder Singh topped the score with 130 runs off 96 balls while Jiten Ramandeep scored 43 runs and Aryan Bisht collected 35 runs.
Similarly, Hammad Mirza and Ashish Odedara made 30 runs and 23 runs respectively while Vinayak Shukla gathered 23 runs and Wasim Ali scored 12 runs and remained not out.
On the bowling side, Nepal's Sompal Kami took four wickets while Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee took two wickets each.
This is Nepal's second match today as part of the ODI series between Nepal, the UAE and Oman. In the previous match, Nepal had defeated the UAE.
Nepal will take on UAE in its third match of the ODI triangular series on Friday.
