Nepali Congress (NC) is set to hold a Karnali province-level gathering in Birendranagar, Surkhet on Monday and Tuesday.
After the Special General Convention, NC is going to hold a provincial and local-level gathering in Karnali on May 11 and 12.
NC President Gagan Kumar Thapa, Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma, General Secretary Pradeep Paudel and other top leaders are scheduled to come to Karnali to address the gathering.
The Karnali province-level gathering is being organized by the Central Policy, Research and Training Institute of Nepali Congress.
The gathering, which will be attended by top party leaders, will focus on the upcoming political direction, election review and issues of good governance, NC has stated.
The gathering, which will be attended by all central members representing the party in the Central Working Committee from Karnali Province, office bearers of the Provincial Working Committee, presidents of all 10 districts, members of the House of Representatives from the party, ministers of the provincial government, provincial assembly members, local level chiefs and deputy chiefs, and rural municipality chairmen and vice chairmen, will be attended by the gathering.
Prakash Lamichhane, a member of the foundation, informed that the gathering will focus on an objective review of the recently concluded House of Representatives elections, identification of organizational weaknesses, and strengthening discipline and internal unity within the party.
He said that the gathering will have a detailed discussion on the policies, programs, and people-oriented development models to be adopted by the provincial and local governments.
Keeping in mind the changing public opinion and psychology of voters, special emphasis will be placed on the party's future policy revisions, organizational refinement, and building a common understanding between people's representatives and leadership.
Similarly, NC has stated that a clear action plan will be formulated on the priorities of good governance, physical infrastructure development, social transformation, disaster management, and budget management.
The organizer has stated that there will also be an in-depth discussion on citizen-friendly budget formulation, inclusive development, and effective coordination between the party and people's representatives.
After two days of discussions, preparations are underway to issue the 'Surkhet Declaration', the party's official view on the development, prosperity, and good governance of Karnali.
NC has taken the gathering as an important opportunity to formulate a political, organizational, and development strategy focused on Karnali.
