Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has opened online applications for the scholarship examination for grades 11 and 12.
The education department of the metropolis has issued a notice today, informing that applications will be open from the upcoming May 15.
The metropolis has stated that applications can be submitted through the website of the metropolis from 10 am on May 15 to 11:59 am on May 24, according to the notice.
The examination for the scholarship will be conducted from 8 am to 10 am on May 31.
The notice states that 100 objective multiple-choice questions will be asked in the examination based on the syllabus of the secondary level grade 10.
The metropolis has stated that the details including the weightage of subjects, school-based scholarship quota, and examination centers will be available on the Kathmandu Metropolitan City website.
The metropolis has been conducting its examinations and providing scholarships to 10 percent of students studying in institutional (private) schools operating in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
Since 2079 BS, the metropolis has started providing scholarships to students studying in grades 11 and 12 in institutional schools. So far, about 15,000 students across the country have benefited from this program of the metropolis.
Last year, more than 14,000 students participated in the scholarship entrance exam for grades 11 and 12 conducted by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
Out of them, 10,867 students passed. Of those who passed, only about 4,500 students received scholarships.
The current Prime Minister Balendra Shah had started this scholarship system when he was the mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
