Leaders of the Gen-Z movement have officially boycotted a consultation meeting called by the government to discuss constitutional amendments. In a joint statement issued by 25 representatives, the activists declined the invitation from a task force led by Ashim Shah, political advisor to Prime Minister Balendra Shah, which was scheduled to meet at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The boycott stems from the government’s failure to implement a 10-point agreement signed on December 10, 2025. The leaders expressed frustration that while they are being invited for "formal" discussions, hundreds of their peers still face "false charges," and the families of martyrs and the injured are still waiting for justice. They also criticized the government for keeping the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission report under wraps.
The activists accused the government of acting unilaterally. They argued that instead of the current task force, a high-level "Constitution Amendment Suggestion Commission" should have been formed as per their previous mandate. They described the invitation for a brief "3-minute" suggestion session as a mere formality rather than a genuine effort toward inclusive reform.
The group has put forward six key demands as a prerequisite for any future cooperation. These include the immediate release of detained protesters, justice for victims including landless squatters of state suppression, the public release of all past investigative reports on various political movements, and the establishment of a participatory commission to
