Nepali Congress lawmakers have demanded an investigation into the assets of former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung.
Expressing his views in the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, NC parliamentary party (PP) Deputy Leader Abhishek Pratap Shah demanded an investigation into the assets of former Home Minister Gurung. "The assets details made public by former Home Minister Sudan Gurung appear to be extremely unnatural and suspicious, so an immediate and impartial investigation should be conducted on them," he said.
Shah alleged that the investigation committee that has now been formed is trying to clear him. He said, "There is widespread suspicion and discussion among the public that the commission is working to clear and protect the former Home Minister who is under suspicion."
He stated that the commission should not bow to any pressure or influence to hide evidence and exonerate him. "No powerful figure should be above the law," he said, emphasizing that the commission must resist external influence and refuse to hide evidence just to issue a clean chit.
He said that a transparent investigation should be ensured against former Home Minister Gurung. "The House of Representatives is the center of people's trust," Shah said. "Therefore, through this dignified house, I demand from the government that the activities of the commission be monitored and a high-level and transparent investigation into the assets of the former Home Minister be ensured."
