ICC WC League 2: Nepal beats USA by 122 runs

Nepal has defeated USA by 122 runs in the ODI match under the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 held in Kirtipur on Friday.

USA was bowled out for 195 runs in 41.2 overs while it was chasing the 318-run target set by Nepal.

To restrict the opponent from reaching the target, Sandeep Lamichhane took the highest 3 wickets giving away 30 runs followed by Dipendra Singh Airee, Lalit Rajbanshi and Gulsan Jha with 2 wickets each while Sompal Kami claimed 1 wicket for Nepal.

Despite Sanjay Krishnamurthi's 56-run score, USA failed to achieve the Nepal's target. Krishnamurth hit 4 fours and 4 sixes off 44 balls. Similarly, Nosthush Kenjige hit 29 runs followed by Shayan Jahangir, Shehan Jayasuriya and captain Saiteja Mukkamalla with 27, 26 and 22 runs, respectively. Likewise, Milind Kumar and Saurabh Netravalkar contributed 12 and 10 runs, respectively.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal notched up 317 runs losing 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Ishan Pandey topped the score with 84 runs including 8 fours and 1 six off 83 deliveries followed by Dipendra Singh Airee with 59 runs while. Airee hit 4 fours and 4 sixes off 36 deliveries.

Similarly, skipper Rohit Paudel scored 46 runs while Aasif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, Aarif Sheikh and Gulsan Jha contributed 43, 29 and 18 respectively. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

In reply, Shubham Ranjane took the highest 3 wickets followed by Rushil Ugarkar and Milind Kumar claimed 1 wicket each for USA.

Nepal had defeated USA by 9 wickets in the first match.

With the win, Nepal has notched up 6 points from this series. With the win, Nepal is in the 5th position with 24 points. Of the 28 matches in the league, Nepal won 11, lost 15 matches and shared points in 2 matches.

Nepal will now play 8 matches in League 2. All matches will be played abroad.
