The Chinese Embassy in Nepal has strongly refuted social media rumors claiming that a Chinese national attempted to bribe local journalists to publish negative reports against a Nepali politician.
In a press statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, China expressed deep shock over the allegations and categorically rejected the claims, labeling them as a "deliberate denigration of China."
"China has always been adhering to the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs," reads the statement, adding that Beijing firmly supports Nepal's national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political stability.
The Embassy has urged concerned Nepali authorities to launch a serious, in-depth, and thorough investigation into the origin of the rumors. It further demanded that those directly involved, as well as the elements orchestrating the claims, be severely punished in accordance with Nepali law.
Reiterating its commitment to bilateral ties, the embassy stated its readiness to strengthen law enforcement and security cooperation with Nepal to protect shared interests. The spokesperson expressed confidence that the Nepali public would distinguish right from wrong, allowing "reason and wisdom" to put an end to the rumors.
