Nepal advanced into the semi-finals of the Asian Games Women's Qualifier by defeating Indonesia by 4 wickets in the last group stage match held in Kuala Lumpur held on Thursday.
Nepal clinched the 4-wicket win over Indonesia after it reached 114-run target, losing 6 wickets in 19.3 overs.
To reach the target, Captain Indu Barma topped the score with 42 runs including 5 fours off 43 deliveries. Similarly, Sony Pakhrin, Kabita Kunwar and Sita Rana Magar contributed 29, 14 and 13 runs, respectively. The other batters could not achieve significant runs.
Despite Ni Made Putri Suwandewi and Ni Ariani's 2 wicket each haul, Indonesia could not stop Nepal from reaching set the target. Dara Paramitha and Sang Maypriani grabbed 1 wicket each for Indonesia.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground in Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia notched up 113 runs losing 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Despite Captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini's 56-run score, Indonesia could not secure a win after it lost wickets without making significant runs. Sakarini hit 3 fours off 62 balls. Similarly, Ni Luh Dewi and Ni Made Putri Suwandewi contributed 23 and 13 runs, respectively. The other batters could not achieve significant runs.
In reply, Manisha Upadhayay took 2 wickets while Riya Sharma grabbed 1 wicket for Nepal.
Nepal, which collected four points from two matches, will play the semi-finals as the Group 'B' winner. China, which won one match and lost the other match, has reached the semi-finals as the runner-up with two points. Indonesia, which failed to secure any points, has crashed out of the group stage.
Thailand, which secured 4 points from two matches, has advanced into the semi-finals as the Group 'A' winner. Home team Malaysia, which won one match and lost the other, managed to reach the last 4 with 2 points. Hong Kong has been eliminated from this group stage.
