The Government of Japan has extended additional loan assistance to Nepal.
Nepal and Japan have signed an agreement for an additional 5.7 billion yen (Rs 5.43 billion) to fund the nearly completed Nagdhunga Tunnel Project.
The Japanese Embassy stated that the agreement was signed and exchanged by Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Maeda Toru and Finance Secretary of Nepal, Ghanashyam Upadhyay.
Earlier, in December 2016, the first agreement was signed to provide a loan assistance of up to 15.63 billion yen for the project. With the additional 5.7 billion yen, the total loan taken from Japan for this project has reached 22.33 billion yen.
Construction of this project had begun in 2019.
